Important Announcements Regarding Backup Withholding
For Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) matching, a list of PFD applicants, along with their Social Security numbers, was provided to the IRS in May. The applicants whose provided information on the PFD file does not match the information on the IRS file will be considered flagged. These applicants can correct and update the information during the summer; otherwise, they will be subject to 24% IRS backup withholding when their PFD is issued.
