So, you can submit an application for your child before 31st March, even if you didn’t receive his/her birth certificate. However, you must submit the birth certificate whenever you receive it.
  • For Emancipated Minors: An emancipated minor is an individual under the age of 18 who has been legally declared responsible for himself/herself by the superior court of the State of Alaska. To apply as an emancipated minor, you must complete a paper Adult application. Moreover, a copy of court documents granting “Emancipated Minor Status” must also be submitted.
  • For Married Minors: If a minor is under the age of 18 and is married, a paper Adult application must be submitted. Moreover, a copy of the “Marriage Certificate” must be submitted with the application for the PFD.
