Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend Tax Information 2025 Dividend

Below are the important guidelines regarding Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend Tax Information and reporting the 2025 Dividend of $1000 for Federal Tax Purposes:

2025 Alaska PFD Stimulus Allocation

An individual will not be eligible for the 2025 dividend in case of the following conditions during all or part of the calendar year immediately preceding that dividend year:

  • Incarcerated as a result of a felony conviction
  • Sentenced as a result of a felony conviction
  • Incarcerated as a result of a misdemeanor if the individual was convicted of a prior felony, or two or more prior misdemeanors.

The legislative purpose for making these individuals ineligible to receive a dividend is to:

  • Obtain reimbursement for some of the costs imposed on the state criminal system relating to incarceration or probation
  • Provide funds for services and payments to crime victims, and for grants for the operation of domestic violence and sexual assault programs.

Total funds that would have been paid as 2025 dividends to individuals not eligible under this provision equaled $14,021,000. Below are the details of the total funds appropriated for FY-2025 under this purpose:

Below are the important guidelines regarding Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend Tax Information and reporting the 2024 Dividend of $1702 for Federal Tax Purposes:

  • The 2024 Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend for Adults is taxable for federal income tax purposes.
  • Your child’s PFD for 2024 may also be taxable, depending on the amount of dividends.
  • If your dividend (even a part or full) was garnisheed, the full amount of the 2024 dividend must be reported as taxable income. 
  • A negligence penalty or other sanctions could be imposed if you fail to report the PFD on your federal tax income return.
  • The amount for the Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) 2024 is $1,702.
  • The Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend and the Energy Relief Payment for 2024 have been combined and paid in a single payment
  • The Energy Relief portion will also be applied to deductions of an applicant’s Dividend, which could include charitable contributions, Alaska 529 college savings, backup withholding, garnishments, and/or assignments.

Important Announcements Regarding Backup Withholding

For Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) matching, a list of PFD applicants, along with their Social Security numbers, was provided to the IRS in May. The applicants whose provided information on the PFD file does not match the information on the IRS file will be considered flagged. These applicants can correct and update the information during the summer; otherwise, they will be subject to 24% IRS backup withholding when their PFD is issued.
